There are many different options out there and choosing the right converter box can be daunting if you have no idea what to look for. There are some features that you must have in order to fully enjoy your television watching experience. There are many different major models to choose from that share common features, but three that are the most sought after. While you may not want to purchase any of these three, understanding the different components of each is important if you do intend to purchase one.
The first one to look at is the RCA DTA800B1. This unit has excellent reception when compared with the competition. The video quality on this is unit is not the best, but is far from being the worst. It includes a very easy to use remote that makes conversion to the digital signal a snap even for those that are not technically savvy. Price on this unit is moderate as well, making the DTA800B1 and excellent choice for anyone looking to get a digital signal at home.
A unit that is a little bit different from everything else in the field but one that definitely has its place is the Winegard RCDT09A. This unit is the only digital converter box that can run on batteries. This means that you can now use all of your portable, battery powered televisions that would be useless otherwise. This digital converter box is great for outdoors man who are looking for some modern activities out in the wilderness. The unit performs respectably when compared with others, but is by now means the bargain of some other units.
The last converter to look at is the Apex DT250. This converter box has some of the best video quality that you will find. Unfortunately, the reception on this unit is not the greatest and it has problems picking up all of the stations. The box is packed with features and has just about every possible option that you could think of. If you are willing to invest more money in an addition antenna this unit could be the best of the bunch, but as a stand alone it is only recommended if you can for sure get in the channels that you want.
